Mazen Aziz was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt and is currently a Designer Architect at SOM. While at SOM, Mazen has been helping with the Cairo New Capital project and Manshiet Nasser slum Renovation. Working with such a big firm, gave Mazen the ability to help Egypt and understand the community better.
Prior to starting his career in Architecture, Mazen earned his bachelors and masters degree in Architecture from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
Mazen is also a professional Olympic swimmer who represented Egypt for Over 15 years today. He started professional swimming since the age of 14 and raised the Egyptian flag in multiple international events.
Mazen was also the Vice president of the Egyptian Committee in Southern Illinois in 2010 and 2011.
Mazen’s personal interests include outdoor activities, biking, long boarding and traveling.
